January 10, 2013 - 9:33 pm Tom lehr - Hi Melissa, Just stumbled on your 'do not give money to chiclets' children post on facebook. I got there through Tera connection and following her trip (I met her and Josh via HUA) Anyway i then read a little of the gf girl blog, then the etsy, then the photo site Good writing - fun to read! (I feel much empathy for gluten folks) interesting set of skills you possess, Most impressive - just wanted to pass on the positives. Hope travel is goin' bitchin' for you and crew Tom

A very special shoot in Georgia.

Jacqueline is a fellow photographer in Georgia and she contacted me last summer wondering if I’d be in the Atlanta area anytime soon. Her dog, Spencer, had been diagnosed with cancer and she wasn’t sure how it was going to play out. But… the news came that after they amputated a leg, he was cancer free! They were ecstatic and we discussed 2012 travel plans since it looked like he’d hang in there quite a bit longer… however around the holidays this last year, the news came back that Spencer’s cancer was back. I arranged a trip to visit for three weeks later – Spencer just spoke to me and I couldn’t *not* photograph Spencer and the family that loves him so much.

The weather kept us on our toes, but the rain held off for our shoot at their cabin in Northern Georgia. This is one of my favorite shoots in recent history for so many reasons. I couldn’t narrow down what to show for this blog, but somehow I don’t think anyone will mind, right? ;)
